Our mission is to support children’s play
We believe that children’s play is both a sign and catalyst for healthier individuals, families and communities. A person’s best memories are often the most simple – a muddy puddle, a tree for climbing, a box fort with friends. We help adults provide opportunities for children to have such play adventure experiences now.
This is achieved by applying principles of the UK-based field of playwork for schools, neighbourhoods, museums, an adventure play pop up park and anywhere else that children can be found. This includes playwork training, resources and ongoing support for play advocates and child professionals. We weave playwork ethics and practices through all of our work, building relationships with children, colleagues and communities.
Start small, start now, keep going. Let’s change the world together.
We have been running the Playworker Development Course for almost 10 years now. It is still humbling to hear about people's experiences while engaging with the course materials and how they apply playwork theory to real life. This is a guest written post by PDC...
“We need opportunities to practice skills of play and play support, and build up our own reserves of patience, flexibility, creativity of thought and lightness of heart.”
“Thank you… for allowing us to tell us our stories, for trusting us to connect you with one another, and for helping us to build a community in playwork in multiple languages and multiple platforms. We don’t take this for granted because we know play advocacy is hard, and building trust can be a vulnerable process.”
At Pop-Up Adventure Play, we can help with registering or hosting your very own children’s adventure playground or playwork event! We have a team of dedicated professionals who are passionate about children’s play and adventure and we would love to help you create something special for the children in your community.
Whether you’re looking to set up a one-off event or something more permanent, we can provide advice and support on every aspect of children’s pop-up adventure playgrounds and playwork, from risk assessment to equipment sourcing. We can also help connect you with other like-minded individuals and organisations who are working to create amazing play experiences for children.
We also provide playwork training for those who want to learn more about how to create and facilitate children’s play. This training is perfect for anyone who works with children, such as teachers, childcare workers and youth workers. If you’re interested in setting up a children’s adventure playground or playwork event in a pop up park or outdoor environment, please get in touch.
